Al Knutson is an artist living and painting out of Milwaukee, WI. Crafty at heart, the experimentation and development of new procedures, tools, and mediums is her cup of tea. With a deep appreciation for unusual and scrappy materials, Al dabbles in any medium she can get her hands on. Presently Al is particularly keen on acrylic, dye, and soft pastels. When it comes to painting, the bigger the better. Al has learned to love the art of building and stretching large canvases and how lines, shapes, and colors operate on a large scale. Although there is rarely a theme or specific inspiration, she naturally creates imaginary places, spaces, and the things that exist within them. Al works out of her studio at Material Studios and Gallery in the Historic Third Ward.
